Bauhaus Women with Lauren Rickards

BAUHAUS OVERVIEW / LUCIA MOHOLY-NAGY

Join Lauren Rickards for the first of a series of talks on the overshadowed women of the Bauhaus school.

When we think of the Bauhaus we inevitably think of names like Gropius, Klee and Kandinsky. Although undeniably important influences on design and architectural history, they are all men. So, what about the women students who attended the Bauhaus, and how did they become overshadowed? As we celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the Bauhaus this year, design enthusiast Lauren Rickards gives a series of informal talks on forgotten Bauhaus women. Over an Autumn series of monthly talks Lauren focuses on key individuals, their work, and how the experience of the Bauhaus for women was remarkably different from their male peers.
