Birmingham Modernist Society present: Barnabas Calder, author of ‘Raw Concrete: The Beauty of Brutalism’ and lecturer in architecture at the university of Liverpool, joins the Birmingham modernist society to discuss his work. Calder makes a bold claim that Brutalism is the best architecture there has ever been, and perhaps the best there will ever be. This at a time when Birmingham’s ‘big boned’ urbanism, once at the frontier of the modern city, is being gradually eroded.
When: Tuesday 20th June at 6.00pm
Venue: Nest Gallery, 321 Bradford Street, Birmingham B5 6ET.
