Windows on a Modern World: Leeds in the 1970s

'Windows on a Modern World: Leeds in the 1970s' project showcased 6 incredible reportage photographs of Leeds throughout the city centre.

This project drew from the impressive private collection of David Hick, Lecturer in 'Traffic Engineering' at Leeds Polytechnic (now Leeds Beckett University) and long-standing member of Leeds Civic Trust Planning Committee. Recently, this archive was gifted to and curated by local artist, Clifford Stead.

Each poster drum was carefully selected to mirror a historic photograph and scene. The trail was amongst the city, plastered onto its existing infrastructure. The city acted as a contextualised gallery, where each location was intrinsic to the image presented.

A big thank to all of our sponsors, who made this project possible.
